Joining a performance practice class

Build confidence and learn to play in front of others

What exactly is a performance practice class?

Whether it is your dog, family member, neighbor, church, or formal concert, you CAN learn to find more confidence playing in front of others. It may seem scary now, but with some practice, you will be amazed at what you can do!

The Performer's Practice Classes are a great way to tackle your fear of performance, but also find new depth, joy, and meaning in your flute playing. With this incredibly supportive and kind group of people, we meet twice a month to play and perform for one another, encourage each other, explore different performance management tools and so much more.

Even if you never intend to perform for anyone, you will be amazed at how powerful this space is. We don't just learn how to perform, we learn how to really manage our minds and body under pressure and how to take our practicing to the next level.

When do the classes take place?

There are several different classes that you can join.

1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 2.30 pm Eastern Time/ 8.30 pm Central European Time

1st and 3rd Monday 10.30 am Central European Time

What level do I need to be to participate?

ALL levels are welcome. It does not matter how good or bad you think you are, it is never too early to start practicing performance!

I am so happy to have been a part of this wonderful group for almost two years. I started watching Tatiana’s videos on youtube when I seriously picked my flute up again after many years. I enjoyed her humor and gifted teaching skills. Next, I followed her on FB [Facebook] and participated in a couple of her workshops. I finally decided to take the plunge and become a Patreon and join the Performers Class. The folks who hang out there are so supportive. I never dreamed I would be a part of a close-knit worldwide flute community. The Performer’s Class helped me deal with performance anxiety. I am happy to present to you a video of my first gig at a private event last night with a friend who plays the harp. I could not have reached my goal by myself. If you are on the fence to take the plunge, I encourage you—just do it! You will make many new flute friends and learn a lot about yourself. The perks are amazing and it’s just a few dollars a month and so worth it!

How much does it cost?

It costs $30 dollars to join the performance practice classes. This gives you access to up to two classes a month and a really supportive Facebook group where you can share your playing and get valuable feedback.

What do you need for online classes?

You will need a good stable internet connection and a computer with a decent webcam and microphone.  There are a few possibilities for external microphones and cameras that can be bought, but to start off, whatever you have available is usually enough.  As we go, we can upgrade your setup! At the bottom of this page, I have put some recommended webcams and microphones that you CAN get if you want to. The better the equipment, the better the online experience but don't let technology hold you back. I have worked with dozens of students, some with absolutely no tech-savvy bone in their body, and they have managed!

My Guarantee

Promises are easy to make and not always kept. So I will not promise that you will be playing with the New York Philharmonic in a week, or even ever...ouch, ok, take a deep breath...here is what I will guarantee:

As a member of my flute family, I will invest in your progress and stay dedicated to your flute journey. I will work to keep you motivated and focused on your journey and help you to see tangible results in your playing. Yes, you can travel this road alone, but I promise it is more fun and way quicker with someone else!

I want to sign up... what now?

Once you have filled out the application form, I will arrange for us to meet on Zoom. This gives you a chance to meet me and try out Zoom (if you don't know it yet), while at the same time giving me a chance to get to know you and assess where you are in your flute journey so we can figure out the best way forward for you. I will also give you all the information you need and answer any burning questions you may have. After this meeting, I will invite you to join one of the classes free of charge and experience firsthand what it is all about. Don't worry, you don't need to perform or play at all, you can just relax and watch.
